These Terms & Conditions govern all tours, transfers and related services provided by KHATTS – Ken’s Hinterland Adventure Tours and Transfer Service (“KHATTS Tours”, “we”, “us”), Commonwealth of Dominica. By submitting a booking request or taking part in one of our tours, you accept these terms.
A booking request made through our website, by email, phone or WhatsApp is an enquiry, not a confirmed booking. Your booking is confirmed only once you receive a written confirmation from us (normally within 24 hours). Please check that the tour, date, number of guests and pick-up details in the confirmation are correct and notify us immediately of any errors.
All prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD) per person unless stated otherwise. Prices include guiding, transport as described in the tour description and applicable site entrance fees unless noted. They do not include gratuities, meals or personal expenses unless explicitly stated. No payment is taken on this website; payment is arranged directly with us and may be made in cash, by bank transfer or by other means we confirm with you. For some tours and private bookings we may ask for a deposit to secure your date.
Cancellation by you:
Cancellation by us: If we cancel a tour for weather, safety, sea conditions or other operational reasons, you may choose between a full refund of all amounts paid or rebooking to another date or tour of equal value. Our guides’ safety decisions on the day (for example not entering a site, shortening a trail or turning back) are final and do not entitle you to a refund where the tour otherwise takes place.
Cruise passengers: If your ship does not call at Dominica or your arrival is cancelled by the cruise line, you receive a full refund of any amounts paid. Please allow sufficient time between tour end and your ship’s all-aboard time when booking; we plan our cruise excursions accordingly.
Late arrival: Please be at the agreed meeting point on time. If you arrive late we will wait where operationally possible, but a missed departure is treated as a no-show.
Some tours require a minimum number of guests, shown on the tour page. If you book below the minimum you may either join a group booking (confirmed once the minimum is reached) or upgrade to a private tour at the private rate we quote. If a group booking does not reach its minimum, we will offer you an alternative date, an alternative tour or a full refund.
Dominica is a wild, natural destination. We may adjust routes, sites or timings due to weather, trail or river conditions, road closures or safety considerations. Where a significant part of a tour cannot be delivered, we will offer a suitable alternative or a fair partial refund.
Each tour page shows a difficulty grading (Easy to Strenuous). You are responsible for choosing a tour appropriate to your fitness and for informing us of any medical conditions, injuries, pregnancy, reduced mobility or dietary needs when booking. You must follow the instructions of your guide at all times, including decisions to alter or end an activity. Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused participation without refund.
Our tours involve hiking, swimming, river crossings, boat trips and other outdoor activities that carry inherent risks. You participate at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica, KHATTS Tours is not liable for personal injury, loss or damage arising from risks inherent in these activities, from your failure to follow guide instructions, or from events outside our reasonable control. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings. We strongly recommend that all guests hold travel insurance covering adventure activities, medical treatment and trip cancellation.
You are responsible for your own travel documents, arrival in Dominica and, unless a transfer is part of your booking, for reaching the agreed meeting point. Please respect Dominica’s nature: take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints.
We occasionally take photos or short videos during tours for our website and social media. Tell your guide at the start of the tour if you prefer not to appear in such material, and we will respect that.
We are not liable for failure to perform our obligations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including hurricanes and tropical storms, volcanic or seismic activity, government action, port closures or public-health restrictions. In such cases we will offer rebooking or a refund of amounts paid for undelivered services.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Dominica.
