Dominica is an independent island nation in the Eastern Caribbean, nestled between the French islands of Guadeloupe to the north and Martinique to the south. It is not the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti in the Greater Antilles.
A day combining sea and land adventures. Start with snorkeling at Champagne Reef, Dominica's premier snorkeling site, named for the bubbles rising from an underwater volcanic vent, where you'll encounter colorful tropical fish and coral among warm underwater currents.
From there, drive up the lush Roseau Valley to Ti Tou Gorge, swimming through the narrow rock passage - Creole for "Little Throat Hole" - to a hidden waterfall inside the mountain. The day concludes at the spectacular twin Trafalgar Falls, with the option to scramble over boulders to a rejuvenating pool at the base of one fall.
