Dominica is an independent island nation in the Eastern Caribbean, nestled between the French islands of Guadeloupe to the north and Martinique to the south. It is not the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti in the Greater Antilles.
A short but unforgettable rainforest experience. From Roseau, drive inland into the lush Roseau Valley to Morne Trois Pitons National Park, then take an easy 10–15 minute guided walk through dense rainforest to the viewing platform for the twin waterfalls, known locally as "Mother" and "Father" Fall - one tall and slender, the other shorter and more forceful, both pouring into a volcanic gorge.
For the more adventurous, guides can lead the way over volcanic boulders to a natural basin near the base of the falls, where cool river water mixes with warm geothermal currents for a uniquely soothing soak.
